The ceremony of enrolling 15 new children in the first grade of Mapalana Panjalankara School was held on 30th January 2025 The chief guest of the event was Mr. Siri Sena Gamage, the chairman of United Kingdom Friends of Galle Foundation. . Mr. Gamage was warmly welcomed by the Principal Mr. Saman Meegawatta and the teaching staff at the school gate. Mr Gamage and other special guests and the new students were escorted to the ceremony hall amid the beautiful music of the college band. The Honorable Principal gave the welcome speech and thanked Mr. Gamage on behalf of the entire school, saying that the help received from UKFG to his school was priceless.
“Our school is very fortunate that Mr. Devsiri Hewavidana and his philanthropist British friends have given us a badminton court, a fully equipped school library, a Smart Board worth 800,000 Rupees for our children to learn new technology, books and various other equipment. In addition to that, there are about thirty children in our school who have received or are receiving scholarships from the UKFG for many years. . UKFG is like a Wishing Well for us. They have given our school fifty lakhs of rupees worth of help over the last five years for we are utterly grateful.
Then UKFG chairman Mr. Gamage addressed the assembly and said “ Mr. Devsiri, the eldest son of late philanthropist Mr. DC Hewavidana, who founded Ullala Maha Vidyalaya, has donated equipment, scholarships, shoes, libraries and playgrounds worth more than 250 million of equipment, buildings and scholarships to 17 schools in this province over the last twenty years.
My grandson, Mr. Deshan Hewavidana, the elder son of Mr. Devsiri, and his wife Mrs. Vedanshi gave books and equipment worth 52000 Rupees to the 15 new children entering this school for the first time today. The main purpose of their good deed is to get blessings for their newborn son, Viaan Jayaweera Hewavidana
It is a great joy for all of us that the third generation of the Hewavidana family participated in the great act of helping schools in Kamburupitiya in this way. As far as I know, Mr. Devsiri Hewavidana and his friends have spent the most on Ullala Maha Vidyalaya, which was founded by his late father, philanthropist DC Hewavidana. I think currently they have donated scholarships, buildings books, shoes, and other equipment worth 157 lakhs of rupees to Ullala School. Your school is currently ranked third in our fundraising metrics. But as things are at present I could see that before long your Mapalana Panyalankara School will become the lucky school that receives the most support from UKFG and will get the first place”. He made this announcement amidst the applause of thousands of school children present.
After that, the 15 new children came onto the stage in order and received books, equipment, and other gifts from Mr. Sirisena Gamage , Mr. Ananda Hewavidana, and the Principal with great . Then the children of Mapalane enthralled the guests and schoolchildren with beautiful cultural dances and beautiful songs .

මාපලාන විදුහලේ අලුත් දරුවන්ට රුපියල් 50000 පොත්
මාපලාන පඤ්ඤාලංකාර විදුහලේ පළවෙනි ශ්‍රේණියට අලුත් දරුවන් 15ක් බඳවා ගැනීමේ උත්සවය පසුගිය ජනවාරි 3 වැනි දා පැවැත්වූයේ එක්සත් රාජධානියේ ගාලු මිතුරු පදනමේ ගරු සභාපති සිරිසේන ගමගේ මහතාගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙනි. පාසල් ගේට්ටුව අසලදී ගමගේ මහතා හරසරින් පිළිගත් විදුහල්පති සමන් මීගහවත්ත මහතා හා ආචාර්ය මණ්ඩලය එතුමා අනෙක් විශේෂ අමුත්තන් හා නව සිසුන් උත්සව ශාලාවට කැඳවාගෙන යන ලද්දේ විද්‍යාලීය තූර්ය වාදක මණ්ඩලයේ මනහර සංගීතය මධ්‍යයේය. පිළිගැනීමේ කතාව කළ ගරු විදුහල්පතිතුමා ගාලු මිතුරු පදනමෙන් තම පාසලට ලැබෙන උදව් උපකාර මිල නොකළ හැකි තරම් යැයි කියමින් ගමගේ මැතිතුමාට ඒ වෙනුවෙන් මුළු පාසල වෙනුවෙන්ම ස්තුති කළේය.
” අපේ පාසැල ඉතා වාසනාවන්තයි. දෙව්සිරි හේවාවිදාන මහතා හා එතුමන්ගේ එංගලන්ත දානපති මිතුරන් විසින් අපට බැඩ්මින්ටන්පිටියක් , අංග සම්පූර්ණ අගනා පුස්තකාලයක්, අපේ දරුවන්ට නව තාක්ෂණය කරා යෑම සඳහා රු. ලක්ෂ අටක් වටිනා සුහුරු පුුවරුවක් (Smart Board), පොත් හා නොයෙකුත් උපකරණ ලබා දී තිබෙනවා. එයට අමතරව ගාලු මිතුරු පදනමෙන් අවුරුදු ගණනාවක් තිස්සේ ශිෂ්‍යත්ව ලැබූ හෝ ලබන අප පාසලේ දරුවන් තිහක් පමණ සිටිනවා. පසුගිය අවුරුදු පහ තුළ අප පාසලට රුපියල් ලක්ෂ පනහක් පමණ ආධාර ලබාදී ඇති ගාලු මිතුරු පදනම අපට කප්රුකක් වැනියි”.
ඉන්පසු සභාව ඇමතූ ගාලු මිතුරු පදනමේ සභාපති ගමගේ මහතා මෙසේද කීය. උල්ලල මහා විද්‍යාලය ආරම්භ කළ ඩී.සී හේවාවිදාන මහතාගේ ජේෂ්ඨ පුත්‍ර දෙව්සිරි මහතා මේ පළාතේ පාසල් දහතකට පසුගිය අවුරුදු විස්ස තුළ ලක්ෂ 250 කට වඩා වටිනා උපකරණ,ශිෂ්‍යත්ව,සපත්තු, පුස්තකාල හා ක්‍රීඩාපිටි පරිත්‍යාග කර තිබෙනවා. අද මේ පාසැලට හා පුරා කියා ඇතුල් වෙන අලුත් දරුවන් පහළොස් දෙනාටම රුපියල් 52000ක් වටිනා පොත්පත් හා උපකරණ ලබා දුන්නේ මගේ මුනුපුරා හෙවත් දෙව්සිරි මහතාගේ ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ පුත්‍ර රත්නය වන දේශාන් හේවාවිදාන මහතා හා වෙදන්ශි එම මැතිනියයි. ඔවුන් මේ සත්කාරය කිරීමේ ප්‍රධාන අරමුණ වන්නේ දැනට මාසයකට පමණ පෙර ඉපදුණු ඔවුන්ගේ කුලුඳුල් පුතා වියාන් ජයවීර හේවාවිදාන ළදරුවාට ආශිර්වාද ලබා ගැනීමයි.”
“හේවාවිදාන පවුලේ තුන්වෙනි පරම්‍පරාවත් මේ අන්දමට කඹුරුපිටියේ පාසැල් වලට උදව් කිරීමේ මහඟු පින්කමට සහභාගි වීම අපි කාටත් බලවත් ප්‍රීතියක්. මා දන්නා හැටියට දෙව්සිරි හේවාවිදාන මහතා හා මිතුරන් එතුමාගේ දිවංගත් පියා දානපති ඩී.සී හේවාවිදාන මහතා ආරම්භ කළ උල්ලල මහා විද්‍යාලයට තමයි වැඩියෙන්ම වියදම් කරලා තියෙන්නේ .මම හිතන්නේ දැනට එය රුපියල් ලක්ශ 157 ඉක්මවා තිබෙනවා. අපේ පරිත්‍යාග ලබාගැනීමේ මාපකයේ දැනට ඔබේ විදුහල සිටින්නේ තුන්වන ස්ථානයේ යි. නමුත් මේ යන අන්දමට වැඩිකලක් නොගොස් ඔබේ මාපලාන පඤ්ඤාලංකාර විදුහල ගාලු මිතුරු පදනමෙන් වැඩියෙන්ම ආධාර ලබන වාසනාවන්ත විදුහල බවට පත් වී පළවෙනි ස්ථානය ලබාගන්නට ඉඩ තිබෙන බව මට පේනවා”. එතුමා ප්‍රකශ කළේ පැමිණ සිටි පාසල් දරුවන්ගේ දහසක් අත්පොළසන් මැද ය.
ඉන් අනතුරුව විදුහලට අලුතෙන් පැමිණි දරුවන් 15 දෙනා වේදිකාවට පිළිවෙලින් පැමිණ සිරිසේන ගමගේ හා ආනන්ද හේවාවිදාන මහත්වරු හා ගරු විදුහල්පතිතුමා අතින් පොත්පත් හා උපකරණ හාඅනෙකුත් තෑගි ලබා ගත්තේ හද ඉපිල යන සතුටින්ය. ඉන්පසු මාපලානේ දූ දරුවෝ ඉතා අලංකාර නර්තන වලින් හා මනහර ගී සිංදු වලින් පැමිණ සිටි අමුත්තන් හා පාසැල් දරුවන් ප්‍රබෝධයට ලක් කළහ.
